Delivering the school bid

Last month students were literally backing the bid to get their school rebuilt, when they travelled all the way to London at the end of term.

Towards the end of 20ll Kings Langley Secondary School was nominated as a candidate for a comprehensive rebuilding programme by the Hertfordshire County to the Department for Education.

Head Boy, Ben Sadler and Head Girl, Zoe Fletcher gave up their time to travel all the way to Westminster to the Department of Education. It was here that they met up with local MP Mike Penning who then showed them into the building. Together, they personally handed over the petitions, which had been signed by fellow pupils and teachers, to a senior Civil Servant who is one of the key voices in the school rebuilding programme.

Ben said: "What was really nice was that the Civil Servant asked Zoe and I a lot of questions and seemed genuinely interested about our school, and wasn't just being polite. There was a wide range of students in Westminster of all ages and ambitions, so it was really interesting to hear a lot of great opinions being put across. Overall I think that the day went really well."

Kings Langley School will find out if they have been successful or not later this year, but for the time being, the students and teachers will have their fingers very firmly crossed!
